Alumni are UNIS’ past, present and future. Whether you were here for just a year or many, our alumni are forever members of the enormous UNIS family. There is a new crop of alumni every year, and now a new generation as alumni bring their children to study at UNIS or join the faculty and staff.
UNIS alumni are an important part of UNIS’ history. We have lived the UNIS experience. We grew up in an ideal world where there was no distinction as to race, sex, language or religion. We experienced other foods, languages, traditions and cultures first hand in our classrooms and at our classmate’s homes. Our teachers shared their heritage and points of view with us and listened to our points of view to make their lessons complete. We were encouraged to challenge each other while respecting one another and came together to propose solutions to the most simple of situations to complex global issues. We were fortunate to have good teachers who inspired us to do our best and influenced who we are today.
Over the years, UNIS may have changed its location, tweaked its curriculum, hired different teachers, and had different Directors but the original values and concepts that UNIS was founded on are the same. We encourage you to come back and visit and you will see how your school has grown and changed and how it has stayed the same.
Our alumni association has over 4000 members and plans annual reunions, writes newsletters and with the help of class representatives, tries to keep in touch with you. Many of our former students keep in touch with one another, attend various school events, and participate in many school activities. During reunions, many come with spouses and children in tow, and enjoy seeing former teachers, looking at yearbooks, exchanging news and ideas and reconnecting.
The UNIS Alumni Association wants to know where you are and what you are doing. Please let us know and update your information when necessary so we can keep in touch with you. We also want you to know what UNIS is doing today and how you can be involved. If you have additional questions about our Alumni Association, please feel free to contact the Alumni Office at 212-584-3142 or 212-584-3053 or by e-mail at alumni@unis.org.
