Alumni Affairs

Alumni Think Tank:

A committee of 15 alumni spanning the years 1968 through 2009 has met four times since October, 2012 to brainstorm, focus and discuss alumni relations at UNIS. Out of these meetings, the following mission statement has been crafted:

The alumni think tank was created to bring energy to the alumni council by establishing a two-way dialogue between the alumni and the school so that they will stay engaged, contribute to the UNIS community and continue to benefit from their UNIS connection. The alumni think tank was launched by David Shapiro and we strive to make him proud of its efforts.

The goals of the alumni think tank are to:

  • Provide a better framework for alumni to become reconnected with other alumni and the school
  • Help further an inter-generational professional network for alumni to support, learn from and interact with other alumni
  • Fundraise and provide reasons for alumni to want to give back either with time, talent or money
  • To create new opportunities and events for alumni
  • To have a more visible and engaged alumni community

The discussions have been charged with many ideas and we will be focusing our energies this year on the following
activities:

  • Helping to showcase the Tut House to Middle School Families by adding the alumni perspective
  • Creating an alumni seminar/webinar program offering opportunities for alumni from around the world to share their real world experiences in their respective countries with current students
  • Hosting a virtual worldwide UN Day celebration
  • Offering more networking opportunities and organizing job fairs
  • Improving the online alumni directory
  • Increasing alumni participation in the annual fund
  • Working with the school on its internal and external marketing
