Queens Campus

UNIS Queens provides an international education for students from Junior A (Kindergarten) through Middle 4 (Grade 8). Our campus offers our students a unique environment combining the warmth and security of a community school with the UNIS academic program of intellectual rigor and challenge. The cultural diversity of our students and their families enriches school life enhancing our international mission. The global curriculum reflects our mission and guiding principals to embrace UN principles, internationalism, cultural identity, sustainability, and care and respect for all people.

Our early years numeracy and literacy programs are individualized to address the developmental level of each student. In addition, from K through 8, students pursue the academic program that includes not only the core subjects of science, English, math and humanities, but art, music, a foreign language and physical education. Middle school students have their own Macbooks to use for as long as they remain at UNIS. In the junior school we have two Mac laptop carts and over 40 iPads for student use. The “Colabaratory” is a space for all students to undertake creative design and build projects supported through technology.

Addressing individual needs includes students’ need to work collaboratively with their peers, to be confident, caring members of our community, to value themselves and others in school, outside school and in the world at large. To this end, students are challenged by a program of instruction to address their social and emotional development, with an emphasis in middle school on mindfulness, empathy, organization and action to help others.

Students transfer to our UNIS Manhattan Campus for their high school education which leads to the International Baccalaureate program and to prepare for college entry both here and overseas. Alternatively, students are provided with the necessary intellectual challenge while at Queens to enable them to gain entry into prestigious public and parochial high schools in New York City and beyond.

We welcome you to visit us at any time throughout the school year.

Queens Sustainability

In 2014, UNIS Queens campus unveiled a new environmental center, enabling students to learn how not to waste, how to reuse, and how to incorporate global and local aspects of what we grow in order to take care of our Earth.
