Capital Campaign at a Glance
Goal : $40 million
Time Frame : June, 2008 through June, 2013
The UNIS vision for the future is to continue to provide academic excellence in an international setting, and high caliber arts and sports programs for all of its students. UNIS will continue to attract exceptional faculty and students from all corners of the earth and educate citizens for a global world. The School will strive to become a sustainable, green facility promoting a healthy and safe environment for our students.
The Master Plan :
-
To Create:
An enhanced, updated state-of-the-art academic, arts and sports facility
-
To Design:
A facility that stays within its current carbon footprint and can lend itself to being an experiment in learning and caring about the environment
-
To Ensure:
Future generations of global citizens who can work together in harmony and understanding
A Phased Plan :
-
Phase One will include a complete renovation of the entry way to the school, the lobby and cafeteria. Offices from the third floor will subsequently be relocated to the new lobby area and the Kindergarten (JA) will move down from the second floor to the main floor freeing up much needed space for classrooms.
-
Phase Two will include the renovation and relocation of classroom spaces, internal renovation work as well as the upgrades to mechanical and life safety component of the School.
-
Phase Three will create a new sports complex on the roof. This new area will feature two gyms, an exercise room and locker rooms. New classrooms will be created in the subsequent part of this phase greatly alleviating crowded educational spaces.
-
Phase Four will establish a Performing Arts Centre and create additional classroom spaces.
Funding the Master Plan Project :
UNIS has consistently been fiscally sound. The funding of the Master Plan Project ensures the preservation of the School’s fiscal strength.
The School has capital reserves of $10 - $15 million to complete Phase One.
UNIS will consider borrowing $25 million through a tax exempt bond issue.
UNIS seeks to raise $40 million from alumni, parents, students and friends along with domestic and international corporations and foundations, and governments to replenish its capital reserves, repay its loan, and fund potential additional renovation expenses.
