First Phase: First Floor Renovation

The first floor renovation and expansion is set to begin June 16, 2008. As you know, the cafeteria and entrance lobby will be expanded. Construction will also begin on the new office space and the new kindergarten wing.

Preliminary work has started and will be completed prior to June 16, 2008. The copy center and book storage have been relocated. Test probes have been cut into the black top and exterior soffit at the front and back of the building. You may have noticed the utilities markings painted on the surface areas in the front of the building.

The admissions office, nurse’s room, bookstore and the office of special programs will be temporarily relocated until the new offices are completed in the fall.

Work on the second floor garden will begin over the spring break. We will need to remove all the vegetation, pond, and pavers to expose the existing roof slab. This is necessary to begin the process of repairing the existing roof slab, and preparing for the new sky lights and green roof system that will be installed. New plants, trees, etc. will be planted as soon as preparation work is completed.

Beginning June 16, 2008 the main entrance to the building and parking lot will be closed. The temporary entrance to UNIS will be at the north lobby entrance. This is the entrance facing Waterside.

All bikes will need to be removed before the last day of school. The areas where the current bike racks are will be renovated. Any bikes and/or other items left there will be donated to charity.

Further notices will be made or updated throughout the construction phases.
