Katharina Margetts has served the United Nations for over 20 years, as a lawyer, human resources expert and senior manager. In her current role as Chief of Service in the Department of Operational Support of the UN Secretariat, Katharina leads a team of lawyers and human resource experts advising UN entities worldwide on all areas of HR management and administration. Prior to joining the UN Secretariat in New York, Katharina spent eight years working as an attorney for the Prosecutor’s Office at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) in The Hague. Katharina has three children with her husband Stephen, with her oldest son Sebastian graduating from UNIS in 2023 and now attending college. Her twins Josephine and Benjamin are currently in M4. Katharina has been a UNIS parent for 14 years with her son joining kindergarten in 2010 and she has always been actively involved as a parent volunteer, including, most recently as Co-Chair of the PA Athletics Committee. Katharina is originally from Dortmund, Germany, and she and her family are avid fans of the hometown soccer team, Borussia Dortmund.
