Najwa Mekki

Najwa Mekki is the Director of Communications at the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), a position she’s held since May 2022.

In this role, Ms. Mekki manages and directs communication strategies to support humanitarian efforts, and advises senior leadership on media, social media, advocacy and internal communication priorities.

Prior to joining OCHA, Ms. Mekki assumed various Communications positions with UNICEF in New York and in Jordan, most recently as Global Media Chief, managing relationships with the press and advising on crisis management.

Ms. Mekki is a Tunisian national and speaks Arabic, English, French and Spanish. She has two children in UNIS.
