Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, UNIS is committed to building a sustainable future through purposeful, environmentally conscious programs and practices. Sustainability at UNIS is not an initiative—it is a mindset embedded in how we teach, learn, and live as a community.

UNIS is proud to be a member of the Green Schools National Network, expanding our students’ access to inclusive and forward-thinking curriculum, events, and extracurricular opportunities. Through this partnership, we collaborate with sustainability experts to continuously strengthen our programs and deepen the connection between learning and environmental responsibility. Across the curriculum, students engage with sustainability through artistic expression, critical discussion, research, and interdisciplinary academic projects, with environmental issues explored as key points of analysis in subjects such as history, philosophy, and global studies.

We recognize that sustainability is inseparable from equity and belonging. Our efforts go hand in hand with our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) commitments, ensuring that all students feel empowered, supported, and connected in their relationship with the environment and their community.

Beyond partnerships and programs, environmental consciousness shapes everyday life at UNIS. Our culture promotes thoughtful use of energy, materials, and food. We reduce single-use plastics in our cafeteria, implement organized waste sorting, and encourage mindful habits such as turning off unnecessary lights. Across campus, sustainable practices are woven into daily routines, making sustainability a lived experience for every member of the UNIS community.
