IRA DISTRIBUTIONSDonations may be made by designating UNIS as the recipient of funds from one’s IRA through a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD), which can count toward satisfying required minimum distributions (RMDs). Please consult your financial or tax advisor to determine whether this strategy is appropriate for you. Instruct your IRA custodian to issue a check payable to UNIS and mail it to: UNIS Advancement, 24-50 FDR Drive, New York, NY 10010.

gifts in honor or memory of someoneShare your gift of support in honor or in memory of those dear to you by making a note of the person you wish to recognize with your gift. We will send a note to the family or the person as you direct. Please indicate the name and address of the person you wish to be notified of your gift in the comments section of the form. We will only tell the recipient that you made a gift, and will not tell them the amount of your gift.

estate planningEstate gifts are a wonderful way to support UNIS and to celebrate the legacy of our mission. There are many way to establish estate gifts (also called planned gifts). They include adding UNIS as a beneficiary of your retirement account, adding UNIS as the beneficiary in you last will and testament, establishing charitable gift annuities and charitable trusts, and gifting assets such as real estate and personal property such as art or jewelry. The UNIS Fund is the annual giving appeal that helps us enhance our academic programs, service programs, the arts, and athletics.

Gifts to the UNIS Fund make a tangible difference in the teachers we hire, the international curriculum, language courses and enrichment programs we provide and the arts and athletic programs we offer. 

The UNIS Board of Trustees, parents, alumni, past parents, grandparents, faculty and staff all make gifts to The UNIS Fund every year.

A growing and vibrant UNIS Fund is vital to our mission to provide the best education for our students

Gifts to the Scholarship Fund support current or incoming families who may not have the resources to pay the full tuition or excel in different ways.

UNIS, with the support of the Uy family, has set up the "Salvador Uy Memorial Scholarship Fund" in honor of the significant impact Sal has left on UNIS as a student, alumni, parent, and administrator. 

This scholarship represents what Sal meant to UNIS,  his family, and his friends.  Sal was named the 1983 U Thant Scholar, the highest achievement that a UNIS graduate can receive.

The U Thant award is presented each year to a Tut 3 (11th grade) student at UNIS who is in high academic standing, whose life and contribution to the school have embodied the principles of the UN Charter, and whose activities and involvement at UNIS have clearly demonstrated respect for other individuals. Nominees for the award are screened for academic eligibility and are voted on by the Tutorial House Faculty based on selection criteria provided.
 
The Salvador Uy Memorial Scholarship will be granted to the U Thant Scholar to support financial expenses incurred during his/her senior year at UNIS. The Class of 2020, which Sal's son Oliver is part of, pledged $1,000 to start this fund. We plan to create an endowment fund for this scholarship to live in perpetuity. 

Gifts to the UNIS endowment are a powerful way to support the long-term mission of the school because they grow over time.

Endowment funds are savings accounts whose annual interest income is used to support programs or facilities.
