While tuition provides the foundation for a UNIS education, it does not cover all operating costs. The UNIS Fund is the annual giving appeal that helps fill the gap, supporting the programs, people, and experiences that make UNIS exceptional. A growing and vibrant UNIS Fund is vital to our mission to provide the best education for our students.

The UNIS Board of Trustees, parents, alumni, past parents, grandparents, faculty and staff all make gifts to The UNIS Fund every year.

Kofi Annan was the former Chairman of UNIS.  In his roles as the Chair of the Board of Trustees at the United Nations International School (UNIS) and later as the Secretary-General, His Excellency Kofi Annan played a pivotal role in shaping the school's mission and fostering its growth.

The establishment of the Kofi Annan Financial Aid Scholarship aligns with UNIS' mission to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within its student body. It acknowledges the barriers that some families face in accessing quality education and seeks to address these challenges directly. By providing financial assistance, the scholarship would break down economic barriers, ensuring that a broader spectrum of students can benefit from the enriching educational experience that UNIS offers.

In defining the eligibility criteria for the Kofi Annan Financial Aid Scholarship, priority is given to applicants from underrepresented communities and backgrounds, in line with Annan's commitment to promoting inclusivity. The selection process considers academic merit and a demonstrated commitment to community service, global awareness, and the values that Kofi Annan championed throughout his career.

The Pathways to Education Project, a partnership between the United Nations International School (UNIS) and the NGO VARCE in Osun State, Nigeria, is creating life-changing opportunities for young women through education and collaboration.

In its first cohort, the project welcomed 100 girls, with 96 successfully completing the program and earning their Nigerian GED equivalent. Throughout the year, students from UNIS collaborated with their peers in Nigeria, fostering a unique cross-cultural partnership built on mentorship, shared learning, and empowerment.

The project is expanding with the introduction of a new AI learning tool, designed to personalize instruction, strengthen outcomes, and broaden opportunities for all students involved.
