Service Learning

UNIS curriculum is strengthened and enriched by student participation in community service, connecting academic learning to real-world contexts and providing students with opportunities to implement meaningful change. UNIS is committed to the United Nations’ ideals of public service, guiding students to engage with their communities in ways that advance the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

At UNIS, we are committed to cultivating conscientious, thoughtful, and publicly engaged citizens. Tutorial House students, for example, are required to complete 30 hours of community service in each of their first two years, helping to instill habits of civic responsibility and a commitment to positive social impact. Once students enter T3, they continue their work in community service through extensive projects in the IB program. Across all grade levels, students engage with a diverse range of organizations addressing various social issues.

Multiple student-led clubs explore service initiatives, empowering students to design and lead projects that address community needs. Through programs such as the UNIS Community Cares Program, students have the opportunity to pursue long-term service projects, further developing leadership skills and a sustained commitment to effecting positive change. The overarching goal of UNIS community service is to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and mindset to become lifelong change makers and socially responsible global citizens.
