The IB Diploma Experience

The IB

In Tutorial House, students pursue the IB Diploma Programme or individual IB courses, developing research, analytical, and interdisciplinary skills. Through studies in languages, sciences, math, humanities, and the arts, along with Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) projects and the Extended Essay, students cultivate intellectual independence and prepare for university and global leadership.

Tutorial House students expand their global perspective through immersive language and cultural trips abroad, spring break excursions, service learning experiences and learning opportunities beyond the classroom. These experiences enhance language fluency, intercultural understanding, and global awareness, allowing students to connect classroom knowledge to real-world contexts while building independence, curiosity, and cross-cultural confidence.

UN Connection

UN Connection

Students at Tutorial House have unique opportunities to engage directly with UN agencies and international experts, attend visits to UN missions, and host the UNIS-UN Conference at the United Nations General Assembly Hall (UNGA) . Tut House seniors also celebrate graduation at the UNGA. These experiences bring global issues to life, strengthen understanding of diplomacy and international cooperation, and include participation in Model UN.

The Tutorial House prepares students to be active forces in shaping a more peaceful, compassionate, and sustainable world.

Central to this mission is a strong emphasis on student voice and advocacy, with students treated as young adults and placed at the center of their educational experience.

They are encouraged to develop independence and self-advocacy by engaging directly with teachers and counselors when questions or challenges arise.

Independent learning is also a core principle, with students learning to manage their workload and take initiative in their studies, particularly as they prepare for the IB Diploma Program and the college counseling process.
