Unique Opportunities at the UNHQ

Throughout the year, students participate in meaningful experiences at the UN that inspire them to see themselves as active contributors in global spaces. Signature events such as the UNIS–UN Conference and Tutorial House Commencement proudly take place in the United Nations General Assembly Hall. UNIS students are typically invited to participate or sit-in on UN related meetings and conferences throughout the year. For example, our Middle School Honors Choir has performed at many prestigious gatherings and UNIS IB Global Politics classes have been invited to sit in on high level meetings in the Security Council chamber.

As part of our commitment to a globally focused education, UNIS regularly welcomes UN leaders and experts to engage with students and provides frequent opportunities for students to visit the United Nations. As pictured, Deputy-Secretary General, Ms. Amina J. Mohammed (pictured), spoke to students in our Junior School about the Sustainablity Development Goals of the UN. Guest speakers from the UN share insights on global issues, cultural perspectives, human rights, and international cooperation, enriching student learning with real-world expertise and helping students develop a global mindset unique to UNIS.
