A Day of Service for United Nations Day
A Day of Service for United Nations Day

On most days, visitors to the United Nations International School would see our high school students busy at work on their latest composition or script, debating hotly contested issues at a Model UN club meeting, or furiously hitting the books for an upcoming IB exam. One day in late October, however, the fourth and fifth floors of the school were noticeably quieter, as all 461 students were spread across New York City, participating in a Day of Service.

Each class raked, planted, painted, and collaborated with community members and organizations at different locations, including the Far Rockaways, Riverside Park, SolarOne and Washington Heights. Click on the video above to learn more about the day.
