Additional Troubleshooting Tips & Techniques

Here are a few additional tips and techniques in case you run into an issue. For instance, if you are using a Chromebook, you may have trouble running Zoom for long periods of time. If something like this happens to you, here are a few suggestions:

  • Power refresh: Press and hold down the "refresh" button (which is usually located just above the 3 and 4 keys) and tap the power button. Release the refresh button when you see your Chromebook starting back up (when you see "Chrome" on your screen).
  • Rest the Battery: Try the reset listed above while also unplugging the power cable to reset the battery. Simply press the refresh button and power button at the same time, and then unplug the power cable. The Chromebook will boot up shortly afterwards.
  • On Apple and Window devices, we recommend restarting your device if you are having trouble, and/or deleting the Zoom app and reinstalling it.
  • If you are experiencing audio issues, a spare set of headphones/earphones may be helpful in fixing your issue.
  • If you do not have an external webcam, there is not much that can be done if you are experiencing webcam issues and none of the tips mentioned in this document have worked for you.
  • Keeping your device plugged in or keeping the charger close by is also highly recommended as running Zoom throughout the day will drain your battery drastically.
